MARRIED TO A STRANGER EPISODE 40.[PART A]

Episode 40: MAKE ME YOURS

Gold had already fallen fast asleep in the car, while Tunde was driving through the quiet streets of Egypt. The night was calm, the roads were empty, and the soft glow of streetlights flickered past as he navigated toward the hotel. His eyes kept wandering back to Gold, who looked so peaceful, her head resting against the window, her breathing slow and steady. She had been exhausted after the long evening, and the drinks had finally caught up with her.

Tunde smiled to himself, watching her sleep. There was something about the way her face relaxed that made his heart feel full. He had always been drawn to her, even when he tried to pretend otherwise. But tonight, with her sleeping beside him, he couldn’t deny the feelings that had been growing inside him for so long.

He thought about the events of the night before. The laughter, the dancing, the way Gold had looked at him with those sparkling eyes. It had been a perfect evening, and now, watching her sleep, he wished he could freeze time. He reached over gently and tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear, careful not to wake her. She stirred slightly but didn’t open her eyes.

Tunde sighed contentedly and focused on the road ahead, his mind drifting to all the moments they had shared. He remembered how she had teased him earlier, calling him “Mr. Panla Face” with that mischievous grin of hers. He had pretended to be annoyed, but secretly, he loved every second of it.

In a short while, they reached the hotel. The building stood tall against the night sky, its windows glowing with warm light. Tunde parked the car and turned to Gold, gently shaking her shoulder. “Gold, we’re here,” he whispered softly. “Wake up.” But Gold was in such a deep sleep that she wouldn’t wake up. She mumbled something incoherent and turned her face away, burying herself deeper into the seat. Tunde tried again, calling her name a little louder, but it was no use. She was completely out.

Giving up, Tunde stepped out of the car and walked around to her side. He opened the door, unbuckled her seatbelt, and carefully picked her up in his arms. She felt light and warm against his chest, her head resting naturally against his shoulder.

He carried her toward the room, navigating the lobby and the hallway with careful steps. The hotel staff gave him a knowing smile, but he paid them no attention. His only focus was on Gold, making sure she was comfortable and safe. He reached the door, fumbled for the key card, and finally pushed it open.

Upon reaching the room, he laid her gently on the bed. The sheets were cool and soft, and Gold sighed contentedly as she sank into the mattress. Tunde pulled off her shoes and draped a blanket over her, making sure she was cozy. He was about to go sleep on the other side of the room, wanting to give her space, but Gold grabbed his hand in her sleep and pulled him toward her. Her grip was surprisingly strong, and Tunde stumbled forward, caught off guard. He didn’t understand what was happening, so he lay down beside her, his heart pounding in his chest.

As soon as he did, Gold wrapped her arms around him, pulling him close. She nuzzled into his chest, mumbling something soft, and held him tight as if he was her pillow.

Tunde just kept looking at Gold in surprise, his mind racing. His heart was beating so loudly he was sure she could hear it. He thought to himself, “She is drunk, that’s why she’s acting like this. Nothing else!! Just relax!!” He took a deep breath, trying to calm his nerves. Her warmth against him was intoxicating, but he knew he had to control himself. She was vulnerable, and he would never take advantage of that. He lay still, staring at the ceiling, waiting for sleep to come. It was almost 4 A.M. in the morning. Tunde was exhausted and could no longer stay awake, so he quickly fell asleep too, with Gold still wrapped around him.

Flashback ends.

The morning in Egypt was mesmerizingly beautiful. The sun rose over the horizon, casting golden rays across the city. Tunde and Gold were driving back home in their car, the windows rolled down to let in the cool morning breeze. Gold had rolled down the window, enjoying the pleasant weather and was feeling quite happy thinking about what Tunde had done for her last night.

She smiled to herself, remembering how he had carried her to bed and stayed by her side. Tunde was happy too, but he was worried about Olamide. He couldn’t get Olamide out of his mind and to make things worse, Olamide wasn’t answering his calls. Also, in the chaos of taking care of Gold at night, he hadn’t been able to reply to Olamide’s message. Tunde kept wondering what might have happened between Olamide and Rita.

To lighten his mood a bit, he turned on the radio, where a beautiful romantic song was playing. Gold liked this song too, but today hearing the lyrics, it felt as if the song was meant for her. She smiled, thinking about Tunde. Just then, along with the radio she heard Tunde singing the song too. She turned her face toward him and saw Tunde joining in with the music, his voice soft and heartfelt:

“Make me yours, make me yours tonight,
Hold me close and make it right,
Make me yours, don’t let me go,
Let your love take over slow.

Every moment, every day,
I keep wishing you would stay,
Make me yours, I’m on my knees,
All I want is you, please.

Make me yours, make me yours,
I don’t need nothing more,
Just your heart and your soul,
Make me yours, make me whole.”
