EPISODE 44
EPISODE 45: THE WEDDING SHOPPING
After talking to Olamide, Tunde returned to his room where Gold was unpacking her belongings and arranging them in the wardrobe. Earlier, she had already neatly organized Tunde’s stuff too. Tunde wanted to talk to Gold but didn’t know how to start a conversation, so he simply sat on the bed with his laptop and started checking office work. A little while later, Bukola came in. “Sister-in-law, get ready quickly. We are going shopping.”
Gold: “Shopping? All of a sudden?”
Bukola: “Well Sister-in-law, Olamide Brother’s wedding is next month, so we have to start the preparations, right?”
Tunde: “What’s the rush? We just got back from Egypt today and you already want to go shopping?”
Bukola: “But let’s just go today and then we still have the rest of the preparations to do.”
Everyone had just returned today and felt exhausted. Gold didn’t feel like going shopping but couldn’t refuse Bukola either. Somehow, Tunde sensed her situation and tried to explain to Bukola, “No Bukola, listen, we all just got back today and everyone is tired. Plus, I haven’t been to the office for days, so I need to go today and catch up on work. So, please, not today. Let’s go tomorrow morning and spend the entire day shopping, okay?”
Bukola: “Umm.. okay Brother, no problem. We’ll all go tomorrow.”
Bukola returned to her room. Gold looked at Tunde, who also looked at her and Gold said, “Thank you for explaining to her. I really didn’t feel like going out today.”
Tunde: “I understand.”
Later, Tunde and Olamide went to the office and Gold got busy with household chores. The day passed and after dinner, everyone went to bed early due to exhaustion.
The next day, everyone was ready to go shopping. They reached the mall together. Aisha and Mother headed to the female native wears section, while Bukola took Gold to the dress section. Tunde and Olamide were taken to the men’s section by Kunle. They had decided to first shop for everyone’s outfits for the various functions and then handle the rest of the preparations.
Olamide was reluctant to come and didn’t want to be there, but he couldn’t refuse his father and mother. Tunde and Kunle asked the shopkeeper to show them the best wedding suits for the groom. The shopkeeper displayed some exquisite wedding suits but Olamide remained uninterested. He just nodded yes or no while Tunde and Kunle started looking for their outfits too. They were browsing when Bukola came and pulled Tunde along.
Tunde: “Hey, what are you doing? Where are you taking me?”
Bukola: “Come quickly, Brother. Sister-in-law is very confused and hasn’t bought anything yet. I’ve already picked four dresses for myself but Sister-in-law hasn’t chosen anything. She either doesn’t like them or finds them too expensive. You need to help her.”
Hearing Bukola, Tunde quietly followed her. They reached the store where Gold was standing, looking visibly confused. Bukola brought Tunde to her and said, “Here you go, Sister-in-law. Brother is here. He’ll help you now, so you don’t need to be confused anymore.”
Gold was surprised to see Tunde and hesitantly said to Bukola, “Bukola, why did you bring him here? We would have managed. There was no need to bother him.”
Bukola: “Oh Sister-in-law, what’s the bother? He’s your husband; it’s his duty to help you with shopping. So now you both shop together, I’m going back to Papa and Olamide Brother.”
Without waiting for a response, Bukola left immediately. Gold felt very awkward shopping with Tunde and Tunde was equally unsure how to help since he didn’t know her preferences. Still, he asked the shopkeeper to show some good outfits. The shopkeeper displayed three or four gorgeous dresses, all are stunning at first glance.
Tunde asked Gold, “Do you like any of these?”
Gold: “Yes, they’re all beautiful. I like all of them.”
Tunde: “Okay then, buy all.”
Gold was shocked, “What???”
Tunde: “Yes, if you like them, you can buy all of them.”
Tunde turned to the shopkeeper and asked, “How much for these?”
Shopkeeper: “They range from 450,000 to 600,000 thousand naira.”
Tunde nonchalantly said, “See, just 600,000 thousand naira. Go ahead, buy them.”
Gold was shocked at the prices and stared wide-eyed at the shopkeeper. But when Tunde said that, she glared at him and said, “Only 600,000 thousand naira? Just???”
Tunde: “Why are you reacting like this?”
Gold scolded him, “What do you mean? Who wears such expensive dresses? I can buy clothes for an entire year for that much.”
Tunde calmed her down, “Don’t worry about the money. Maybe you’re forgetting that your husband is a very successful businessman.”
Gold glared and asked, “Ohh, so my husband has a lot of money?”
Tunde said confidently, “Yes. Any doubt?”
“No, no… I was just thinking, if you have so much money, why don’t you buy the entire mall?”
“Okay sure. If you want, I can buy it for you.”
Gold was shocked, thinking he would understand her sarcasm, but he was taking it seriously. She asked to change the topic, “Did you buy anything for …..
