EPISODE 24: HOME ALONE(PART A)

A little later, Tunde came out after showering. Gold was still in the balcony so Tunde called her inside but there was no response.

When she didn’t come in for a long time, Tunde went to the balcony himself. Opening the door softly and he saw that Gold had fallen asleep on the sofa there.

Looking at her, Tunde thought to himself: “She was so sleepy that she dozed off here itself. She looks so cute right now that I don’t even feel like waking her up. But she can’t sleep outside all night; she’ll get sick. What should I do?”

After some thought, Tunde gently tried to wake her up. “Hey… Rabbit… Wake up… Come inside and sleep… Hello…”

But Gold was in such deep sleep that Tunde’s words had no effect on her.

Finally, giving up so Tunde carefully picked her up in his arms and carried her inside. He laid her on the bed, covered her with a blanket and went to his side of the bed to sleep.

He looked at Gold once again and started

“Wow, strange, I picked her up from the balcony and brought her here but still she was not affected at all, she is in such a deep sleep… right, if you want to kidnap someone then it will be easy, there is no need of chloroform… as soon as madam falls asleep, pick her up and run away.”

The next morning,

when Olamide came downstairs then Mother approached him and reminded him about their “mission.”

“Brother, you haven’t forgotten about our mission, have you? Have you thought of a way to bring Brother and Sister-in-law closer?”

Olamide: “I’ve been thinking about it but I can’t find a way. They two stay so distant from each other that it’s really tough to bring them closer.

Tunde doesn’t like Gold anyway and she doesn’t make any effort either. How can we bring them together when neither of them shows any interest?”

“Actually, Gold likes Tunde a lot.”

Hearing this voice from behind Olamide and Bukola were startled.

They turned around to see Rita standing there.

Olamide: “What are you doing here? When did you arrive?”

Rita: “Just now. I came when you two were planning to bring your Brother and Sister-in-law closer.”

Bukola: “Wait a minute, Rita, did you just say that Sister-in-law likes Brother? Really? How do you know?”

Rita: “Gold herself told me.”

Olamide: “Are you joking?”

Rita: “What do you think”

Olamide: “Listen, if this is a joke, it’s a bad one. There’s no joking when it comes to Brother and Sister-in-law.”

Rita: “I’m not joking. Gold herself told me and I’ve seen it too. Maybe you guys didn’t notice, but I did.”

Olamide: “What did you see?”

Rita then shared everything that had transpired between her and Gold.

Hearing this, Olamide and Bukola were overjoyed and couldn’t contain their excitement.

Bukola: “Wow… What a wonderful thing you’ve told us. I’m so happy!”

Rita and Olamide smiled too.

Just then, they heard another voice from behind.

“What’s the good news that has you all so happy? Tell me too!”

It was Grandmother, accompanied by Mother.

Seeing them, the three froze and fell silent.

Mother: “What happened? Just now you were jumping with joy, and suddenly you’ve gone quiet as if you’ve seen a ghost.”

Bukola: “Um… Mom…”

Rita quickly interjected: “Nothing, Aunty. I was just telling them that I’m planning to go out with my parents and thought I’d invite everyone to join. That’s why Bukola got excited.”

Mother: “Of course, she would be. Even if you take her around the whole world, it wouldn’t be enough for her. She’s always excited about going out.”

Grandmother: “Alright, I’ll come along too then.”

Mother: “But Mom, you…”

Grandmother: “No buts. If we’re going, we’ll all go together. You always leave me alone at home.”

Olamide: “That’s because we don’t want your health to suffer, Grandmother.”

Rita: “It’s fine, Grandmother can come along. We’ll go somewhere where her health won’t be affected.”

At that moment, Tunde and Gold also arrived.

Tunde asked, “What’s the plan? Where are you all going?”

Bukola excitedly explained the plan but Tunde didn’t seem happy about it.

Owing to the previous night’s party, he wasn’t feeling well and wanted to stay home and rest.

“You all can go, but I won’t be joining. I have a terrible headache and need to rest today.”

Bukola: “Alright, Brother you rest. But Sister-in-law, you’ll come, right?”

Gold didn’t feel like going without Tunde. Since Tunde wasn’t going, she wanted to stay back too but couldn’t express it.

“Um… No… I…”

Seeing this, Rita got an idea and said, “Oh Bukola, don’t you get it? If Tunde isn’t going, how will Gold enjoy? She’ll stay home with Tunde.”

Saying this, she winked at Olamide and Bukola who immediately caught on to her plan and played along.

Mother: “But… how can we go without both of them? Let’s postpone it to tomorrow.”

Tunde: “No Mom, there’s no need for that. And Gold, you can go with everyone. I can stay home alone.”

Grandmother: “Alright, then Gold…”

Before she could finish, Rita pulled both Mother and Grandmother aside and whispered, “What are you doing? Think about it —they must want to spend some time alone together. They’re newlyweds, after all. You should understand!”

Hearing this, the two looked at each other and realizing what Rita was hinting at. They returned and said, “Alright, you two stay home. Spend some quality time together.”

Tunde: “What? Mom, it’s not like that…”

Grandmother: “Oh, stop it. We’re not that old-fashioned!”

Hearing this, everyone burst into laughter. Tunde and Gold, however felt very embarrassed but stayed silent.

Mother: “Alright, everyone get ready. I’ll inform Father.”

Rita: “I’ll let my parents know too.”

Olamide suddenly remembered that Rita’s parents were also joining and hesitated. “I… can’t come. I have some work. You all go.”

Saying this, he started to leave but Rita stopped him, surprised by his sudden refusal.

“Why don’t you want to come? Is it because of me? Are you avoiding me?”

Olamide: “No, it’s not like that. Some things can’t be explained so please don’t ask.”

Rita: “Fine, I’ve stopped asking. But whatever the reason i don’t care, you’re coming with us.”

Olamide: “I said I can’t come.”

Rita: “You have to come. Look, I’m not particularly excited to go with you either. but I’m doing this for Tunde and Gold. This is a great opportunity for them to spend time alone at home. Please understand.”

Olamide: “But I…”

Rita: “No buts. You’re coming and that’s final.”

Realizing Rita’s point, Olamide reluctantly agreed for Gold and Tunde’s sake.
