Standing at the door was none other than Rita, who overheard what Daniel had said.

Seeing her at the door, everyone was stunned and became nervous.

Rita was stepping inside and repeated her question, “What happened, Papa? Why did you say that Olamide is away from me because of you?”

Kunle tried to handle the situation by intervening, “Oh Rita, nothing happened. We were just talking about you two.”

But Daniel interrupted Tunde, “No Tunde, don’t hide the truth anymore. It’s because of me that my daughter’s happiness was taken away. I am guilty of this and I will tell her the whole truth.

Rita was confused by what her father was saying, “What are you talking about? Guilty? Happiness?”

“I will tell you everything,” Daniel said and then narrated everything from the beginning to the end—how he had insulted Olamide and told him to leave Rita’s life.

Because of him, Olamide had left her.

Hearing the entire truth, Rita felt the ground slip from beneath her feet.

Hearing such a big truth, Rita couldn’t handle herself and began crying.

Gold was trying her best to comfort her.

Why did you think he couldn’t keep me happy? You don’t know how much he loved me!”

Daniel replied, “I know my child, he loved you very much.

I will talk to him; I will make him understand.”

But Rita interrupted, yelling, “What will you explain to him? That you said all that by mistake and now he should forget everything and hold my hand again?

You didn’t even think before saying such hurtful things and he foolishly listened to you and left me forever.

Olamide may have broken my heart but the reason my heart broke is you, Only you!!!! I will never talk to you. I can never forget this.”

Hearing Rita’s words, tears welled up in Daniel’s eyes.

He felt devastated at having fallen from his daughter’s grace.

Still, folding his hands he said, “Please forgive me, my child. I know I made a mistake, but I understand now and I came here to apologize to Olamide.”

But Gold stopped him from folding his hands, “What are you doing, Uncle? You’re an elder. It’s not right for elders to fold their hands against children.”

She then tried to reason with Rita, “Listen to me, Rita. I know it’s not my place to speak but as a friend, I want to explain something to you.

What Uncle did was wrong, but his intentions weren’t. He was only thinking about you, your happiness and your future.

He’s your father; it’s his right to care for you. He made a mistake but does that mean you talk to him like this and stay angry at him? He’s your father.

Please calm down.”

Hearing Gold’s words, Rita calmed down a bit but didn’t respond. Gold continued, “You’re thinking your father separated you from Olamide. But look, the moment he saw tears in your eyes and saw you in pain, he realized his mistake and immediately came here to apologize to Olamide and make things right. Isn’t this his love for you?

If he can fold his hands to apologize for your happiness, can’t you let go of your anger and forgive him?”

After a moment of silence, Rita wiped her tears and looked at Daniel, “Money can buy palaces Papa, but not

love.

Love is for the lucky ones. Money can buy everything but peace and love aren’t for sale. I found that with Olamide.”

She turned to Gold and said, “You know Gold, my Papa is my hero. I trust him the most. Now that I know my number one hero… broke my trust… tell me, how can I forgive him?”

Gold took a deep breath and looked Rita in the eye, “Have you never made mistakes?

Haven’t your parents forgiven all your mistakes because they love you?

If our parents can forgive us for our mistakes, can’t we forgive them for one mistake?

You love your father too. Can’t you forgive him?”

Hearing Gold’s words, tears filled Daniel’s eyes.

Kunle, Aisha, and Mother felt proud of Gold’s wisdom.

Rita pondered Gold’s words.

When Gold gestured to Daniel, he came to Rita and apologized again.

This time, Rita broke down in tears and hugged him tightly, “I’m sorry Papa, but I can’t live without Olamide. Please don’t separate me from him. I love him so much.”

“No my child, no one will separate you from Olamide now. I will talk to him myself about your marriage. Promise.”

Everyone there smiled and Tunde felt happy knowing that Olamide’s lost happiness would be restored.

Gold was also delighted.

Tunde looked at Gold and mouthed a thank you, to which Gold responded with a smile.

Bukola remarked, “I know I shouldn’t interrupt, but it’s important… isn’t Olamide brother getting married to someone else next month?”

Hearing Bukola’s words, everyone became worried again.

Rita approached Tunde and asked, “He didn’t tell me anything, but you must know, right? Who is he married?”
