Episode 35:What Do I Mean To You?[PART A]
Tunde Adeyemi took Rita to a corner and tried to come close to her. She tried to push herself away from him, but Tunde did not listen. Now Rita was getting angry, but Tunde came close to her and said,
“I love you very much Rita… I love you so much… please agree… I have waited for you for a long time… I love you.”
Saying this, Tunde was coming close to her face to kiss her. But after listening to this, Rita got angry and pushed Tunde away and slapped him.
“How dare you come close to me, how dare you touch me… I do not love you… so please never come in front of me again.”
Tunde’s ego was hurt a lot due to her slap. He angrily pushed Rita back towards the wall and, holding her hands tightly, threatened her.
“How dare you slap me… You are so beautiful that you have so much arrogance that you raised your hand on me!! You woman!! Although I wanted everything with your consent and with a lot of love, but now even if it is by force… I was asking you lovingly so you don’t have to understand. You have tested my patience a lot. Now I want to hurt you so hard that from now on, forget about slapping me, you will tremble even to look at me. Because you will have to face the punishment for the mistake you have committed.”
Tunde stood tightly clinging to Rita and held her with his strong hands. Rita got very scared by this act of his, but she was not able to free herself. Tears came in her eyes, but Tunde was not showing any mercy on her. He was just forcing himself on Rita in the fire of his anger. He was just going to kiss Rita when someone pulled him back and punched him hard on the face.
Tunde was unable to handle the sudden attack and fell down. Rita looked at Tunde who was lying down in fear and then looked at the person standing in front of her. Olamide was standing in front of her. She ran to him and fell silent behind him.
At this time, Olamide was very angry. He caught Tunde by the collar, lifted him, and started beating him mercilessly. By then, some people had also come nearby who were trying to stop Olamide. Bukola Adeyemi also came there and, seeing Rita crying, she ran to her and started consoling her.
Somehow, everyone stopped Olamide and made Tunde stand up. Olamide was still shouting,
“You bastard, how dare you touch my Rita? When she said stay away, so just stay away, didn’t you understand? I am not gonna leave you alive… by what right did you touch her…”
When Rita heard Olamide say “my Rita” for herself, she stopped crying and started looking at Olamide with tears in her eyes.
But Olamide was not ready to calm down under any circumstances. He freed himself and again started hitting Tunde. Everyone was stopping him with great difficulty. Bukola went to him and started calming him down. Seeing Bukola, Olamide controlled himself and calmed down, but his anger had still not gone.
He turned and looked at Rita. He went to her and shouted, “What was the need to dance with him? Why don’t you understand what is right and what is wrong???? What if something had happened today?????”
Rita had never seen Olamide so angry before. She got scared seeing him so angry and tears started flowing from her eyes. Seeing her cry, Olamide said again,
“Why are you crying now? You should have thought about all this before going on stage holding his hand… You were doing all this to make me jealous, right? But you have seen the result, now happy?”
Olamide was very angry, but Rita was not saying anything.
Then Tunde came forward from behind and, looking angrily at Olamide, said,
“What is your problem?? What do you think of her that she keeps coming in between us again and again? Is she your sister?? Is she your wife?? Is she your girlfriend?? Just a friend, right? So live like a friend, there is no need to care too much.”
Olamide was listening to him, pushed him again, and said,
“Just shut up!! Whatever I think of her, it doesn’t matter to you, understood? You have no right to force anything on her. Even you can’t do this thing with any other girl, Mind it!!”
Tunde said, “Why are you so jealous??? You raised your hand on me for such a small thing, do you know the consequences of this??”
Olamide said, “It is not such a small thing, you have hurt her.”
Now Rita could not control herself and she came in between and said looking at Olamide,
“He has asked you something Olamide, answer him! What do I mean to you??”
“Don’t interrupt Rita, I am talking with him,” Olamide said while removing her from the middle.
But Rita did not move from there and shouted again and asked,
“I want an answer…what do I mean to you??? And what did you say that I did all this to make you jealous, then tell me why would you be jealous?? I can go with any boy, what do you care about that???”
Now Olamide’s anger was increasing, but he did not want to escalate the matter at this time, so he calmly said, “Okay, I made a mistake. Go with whoever you want, I will leave from here.”
Then he looked at Tunde and said sorry and turned to leave from there. Tunde and everyone else also left from there.
Olamide had gone just a little far when Rita held his hand and came and stood in front of him and started looking into Olamide’s eyes. But Olamide again explained to Rita,
“Look Rita please, you stay calm at this time. We can talk about this later also.”
But Rita shouted and said, “No… not later, right now… I want to know everything right now… why are you doing this to me? Why don’t you say that you love me?”
“Because I can’t say it……” Olamide also lost his control and said loudly.
“Why not? Can you say it?? What is the reason??” Rita asked.
Olamide replied, “If I can’t say it, then I can’t. Why don’t you understand???”
“Because I love you so much… I can’t live without you, please don’t do this to me.” Rita immediately hugged Olamide.
Hearing all this from Rita, Olamide also became silent. Although he knew that Rita loved him, hearing this from her mouth, he was feeling very different. He felt like hugging her tightly and telling her that he also loves her very much and cannot live without her, but then remembering the words of Rita’s father, Daniel, he stops himself and pushes Rita away from himself. Then hiding the truth, he says,
“Forgive me Rita, but I do not love you. I love someone else and I am getting married to her after a month…”
Hearing his words, Rita loses her senses. Bukola standing near them also gets shocked to hear this from Olamide.
Olamide was also cursing himself in his mind, “What was the need to tell such a dirty lie.. Now what will you tell, which girl?? And marriage?? From where will you get a girl?”
But now that he has said it, there’s no way left.
Rita got nervous. She asked him in a low voice,
“You are joking, right? Look Olamide, I don’t like such jokes at all.”
Olamide gave a serious look and said,
“I am not joking, this is the truth and this is the reason why I cannot accept your love. I am getting married next month and after returning from Egypt, I was going to introduce that girl to my family. Everything is fixed.”
Rita asked in a low voice while crying, “Who is that girl?”
“I don’t think it is necessary to tell you, and anyway you don’t know her.”
Olamide said without looking at her and went from there saying sorry to her. While leaving, he looked at Bukola and said to her,
“I am waiting near the gate so both of you come there, then we are going home. I will message Tunde Adeyemi.”
After saying this, Olamide went from there, but Rita was still standing there.
Olamide told Bukola to wait near the gate and left. Bukola followed his instructions and went to Rita, who was still standing there, lost in her thoughts. Bukola held her and asked her to come outside, but Rita shook off her hand and outright refused to go with Olamide, leaving Bukola worried.
“Sister in law Rita, I understand you’re upset but please consider the situation. It’s not safe for us to go home alone at this hour,” Bukola pleaded.
Rita replied, “I don’t care. I’m not going anywhere.”
Bukola tried her best to convince her but it was not easy. Helpless, Bukola stepped aside and called Olamide to explain everything.
Olamide thought for a while and then said, “Tell her we’ll take a taxi and come to the gate. I’ll book a taxi and follow you in my car. But don’t tell her it’s my plan.”
Bukola did exactly as Olamide instructed and Rita finally agreed to take a taxi as she didn’t want to stay at the party any longer. Both of them reached the gate and got into the taxi, heading home. Olamide followed them in his car after informing Tunde Adeyemi.
He messaged him, “I’m taking Bukola and Rita home. There was some trouble with Rita but I’ll explain everything tomorrow. Please take care of Gold sister in law and bring her home in the morning.”
Meanwhile, Tunde Adeyemi was sitting on the bed with Gold Okafor half-asleep beside him. Gold was heavily intoxicated and Tunde was somehow managing her and her antics. Finally, when the intoxication made her head feel heavy, sleep began to take over her eyes and she sat on the bed with Tunde.
Suddenly, Tunde remembered something and asked Gold, “Tell me one thing—do you want me to love you?”
“Hmm…” Gold turned toward him upon hearing his voice, hugged him tightly and rested her head on his lap.
Tunde thought for a moment and then asked, “Do you love me?”
After saying this, Tunde closed his eyes immediately, unsure about why he even asked the question. But when Gold didn’t reply for a long time, he opened his eyes to find her fast asleep, still hugging him tightly. Seeing her sleeping like that, a smile appeared on Tunde’s face.
He then noticed Olamide’s message on his phone. Reading Olamide’s message made Tunde tense for a moment, wondering what had happened between them. However, he figured Olamide would explain everything in the morning and calmed himself. Ensuring Gold was comfortable, he lay down beside her and went to sleep.
Half an hour later, the three of them reached home. Rita first dropped Bukola at her house and then asked the taxi driver to head to her place. Olamide’s car was still following the taxi. He stayed there until Rita entered her house, then drove back to his home.
When Olamide entered the house, he found Bukola sitting in the hall. He ignored her and went straight upstairs. But Bukola followed him and asked, “Why did you lie to sister in law Rita about your marriage?”
Without looking at her, Olamide replied, “Bukola please, I don’t want to talk about this right now. And I didn’t lie. I will marry someone next month.”
Bukola said, “But you—”
“Please, Bukola… not now,” Olamide interrupted and walked to his room.
Olamide went straight to his bed, feeling like crying. Anger and frustration consumed him as he thought,
“What is happening to me? Today, I hurt Rita again. She cried because of me and what did I do in return? Gave her more pain. But what can I do? I can neither hold her hand nor stay away from her. And this is worse!!!! Her father will never accept this. I can’t leave her and I can’t forget her.”
Olamide’s mind was a mess and he couldn’t muster the courage to face Rita again. After some time, he made up his mind, got up and started packing his bags. He decided to leave for Lagos the next morning and never see Rita again.
