Episode 29 – Closer
The next morning, soft rays of the sun filtered through the window, illuminating the entire room. As Gold’s eyes slowly fluttered open, she found herself in Tunde’s arms. Suddenly her breath caught and her heartbeat quickened.
Tunde was holding her tightly in his arms, his face incredibly close to hers. Gold froze for a moment, realizing how close they were. Tunde’s calm, sleeping face was inches away from hers and she could feel the warmth of his breath on her skin. Her heart skipped a beat.
The warmth of his arms and his closeness made Gold feel something unfamiliar, something she couldn’t quite describe.
She noticed the gentle rise and fall of his chest, the faint shimmer of light on his lashes. It felt as if time had paused.
She slowly tried to free herself from his grip but his hold tightened even more. Gold stopped struggling and turned her gaze toward Tunde’s face. It was the first time she had seen him this closely.
He looked so peaceful, so innocent, unlike his usual stern self.
A faint smile crept across Gold’s lips as she thought, “He looks so innocent while sleeping… but when he’s awake… such an arrogant man!”
Just then, Tunde spoke with his eyes still closed, “And you, silly rabbit…” Gold’s eyes widened, her face turning crimson.
She had assumed Tunde was still asleep, but hearing his voice startled her. She tried to move away in a hurry, but Tunde opened one eye and looked at her with a mischievous smile.
“Did you really think you could whisper things about me while I was asleep and I wouldn’t notice?” he teased. Embarrassed, Gold tried to pull herself out of his arms but Tunde tightened his hold and pulled her even closer.
There was a playful glint in his eyes. “Why are you in such a rush to escape?” Tunde asked softly. “By the way, let me tell you, you look even cuter when you’re asleep.”
Gold’s face turned even redder after hearing this. She managed to free herself and quickly got out of bed, walking toward the window.
Yet, her heart was still pounding and she could feel the lingering warmth of Tunde’s embrace.
Tunde sat up on the bed with a smile playing on his lips. Looking at her flustered face, he said teasingly, “Hey Gold, do your cheeks always blush this much or is it because of me?” Gold tried to ignore his words but the redness of her face betrayed her emotions, leaving Tunde grinning with satisfaction.
“You… you were awake?” Gold said while looking at the sun. Tunde sat up properly and replied, “No… but your mumbling woke me up.” Gold didn’t say anything and Tunde kept looking at her.
The sunlight was falling on her face, and even though she had just woken up, her face looked incredibly beautiful without any makeup.
However, he ignored her and walked toward the bathroom. Just as he was leaving, Gold stopped him and shyly asked, “Why… why were you so close while sleeping last night?” Tunde smirked. “What? You mean I was close to you?” He burst out laughing.
Gold couldn’t understand why he was laughing and asked again, “Why are you laughing? We both slept on our sides, didn’t we?” Tunde replied, “Yeah, I stayed on my side.
But someone here, it seems, got scared of the dark even in their sleep and clung to me.” Gold gasped, “What? Me? No way… I wouldn’t do that!” Tunde grinned, “I knew you’d say that, so I have proof. Look at this.” He showed her a picture on his phone, where Gold was hugging him in her sleep and he had taken a selfie with her.
Gold felt utterly embarrassed, while Tunde couldn’t stop laughing at her reaction. Gold stammered, “I… I…” Tunde teased, “Oh, it’s okay. I understand.
After all, it’s hard to control yourself when such a handsome guy is sleeping next to you.” Winking at her, Tunde added to the teasing, which only made Gold more annoyed.
“That’s not true! I didn’t even realize it in my sleep. Just go! Get out! I need to shower!” Flustered, Gold got up and headed straight for the bathroom, demanding Tunde leave.
But Tunde didn’t budge, so she gestured again. Tunde smirked, “I’ll shower first.” Gold protested, “No, let me shower first. I need to go downstairs; there’s so much work to do!” Tunde gave in. “Fine, go ahead. I’ll wait here.” Gold looked at him in disbelief, “What? No… you know about the bathroom, right?” Tunde shrugged and gestured as if he didn’t care. Gold glared at him and stormed out of the room while saying, “Fine! Just hurry up. I need to shower too.” Tunde grinned mischievously. “Sure, or we could just shower together!”
Gold’s face turned crimson at his words and she ran out of the room. Tunde laughed heartily as he watched her flee.
